Want to Trade forex for a living? Read this.

Think of it like a really extreme freelance career, working for tips at a seasonal bar or restaurant. Every day, week, month, you have to put in the work to build your revenue stream. One Friday, you could pull in $800. Memorial Day weekend, $2000. Then for all of June to August, $50 a week, or worse, you spend more on bus fare just to get to work.
Same for trading. First you have to build some kind of personal track record. No one else needs to see it. No one else cares. It's just for you to know what you are actually capable of. You can't plan a monthly budget on an income you haven't proven yet.
Calculate your rock bottom monthly expenses. Rent, transportation, bills, food. No entertainment or other discretionary spending.
Compare to your hypothetical track record for trading. What's the worst month you had in a year? The best month? The average? How many months did you not make enough to pay your bills?
From that, figure out how much of a savings buffer you need, to afford that many months of bills, and no trading income (or worse, trading LOSSES).
Normal budget planning recommends 2-3 months of living expenses saved, plus an emergency fund. For volatile jobs, I'd say you need at least 2x that much. I've heard of some old school traders who only saw $0 or losses for 2 years straight. There's this penny stock trader guy Ross, who sells Warrior Trading education courses. In 2017 (?) he did a challenge where he traded $500 up toward a goal of $500,000 in a year -- he posted account updates (as far as one can trust them), and showed that he reached $335k by the end of the year, but had SIX MONTHS of zero to negative returns in the middle of his year. In 2012-2014, volatility died, and a lot of traders couldn't hack it in those conditions. With price movement dead for two years, how would you adjust for the lack of trading opportunities and income?
Your living costs need to be as low as possible, and your trading income needs to be sufficiently high, so that even your low months are consistently able to cover your bills. If your living cost is currently $2500 a month, and you have a $50,000 job, then one example might be to downsize your life (take on roommates, whatever) to reduce your cost down to $1500/mo and aim for a trading account size combined with personal trading method that gets you an annual range of $50k-$100k. That way, even in a bad year when you only make $25k, you'll still be able to pay rent. And just as they recommend for people who make good tips, save the extra income from any good month or year, until you have that huge safety cushion to live off.
It sucks immensely to trade under pressure when you don't have rent money. It's one of the big rules -- never trade with money you can't afford to lose.
If that all sounds too unglamorous, keep a part-time to full-time job, and trade in the evenings/plan your setups on the weekend to juice your income. Keeping a base income means covering your bases (so long as the job market is good), leaving you to trade stress free. Even if you blow a $1000 account, hopefully you can build that back up in a few months of saving from your normal job.
By the numbers, 93% of new traders quit or fail within 5 years. And only less than 1% of traders are profitable after expenses, per year. That means anyone who makes more than $0, so there's a long way to reach an income you can live on. Work towards being that successful guy, but make plans to survive the initial X number of years where you haven't yet proven your ability to be that guy.

How Much Money Do I need to Trade Forex, Stocks, Indices, or Cryptocurrency for a Living?

How Much Money Do I Needto Trade Forex, Stocks, Indices, or Cryptocurrency for a Living?

Most traders start with small accounts of up to $ 5,000 or similar and plan to become millionaires within a year.
Experienced traders already realize that this is, of course, wrong.
You can only fault yourself because you have ambitious goals that will only frustrate you.
Of our Tournament, we need a 10 percent monthly growth and that is called an advantage.
The 10 percent benefit has been selected for being inspiring and still achievable.
There is practically no day when all of our projects don't meet a Challenge.
Many traders are going to make this required benefit too small, but FTMO has a set maximum loss of 10 percent.
So we want the trader to earn 10% of the initial capital within 30 days, without losing 10% of the initial capital.
So the desired profit, as well as the maximum permissible loss, are in balance.
Since we are traders too, we know that there are sometimes months that do not correspond to our plan.
If you do not achieve the desired profit, you will receive a new Challenge from us
at least zero at the end of the period and you do not violate any other rule.
We have an idea, thanks to a relatively large number of traders,
of what we should expect from traders who progressed to their live FTMO accounts.
More caution is generally exercised on the funded account, and consequently, the average gain is lower than in the Challenge.
Only rare exceptions are profiting in tens of percent.
We as investors are pleased to see a 4-7 percent long-term appreciation.

Money for Trading
Let's compare two accounts, a smaller account at around $5,000, and a $100,000 account that we're offering to manage.
Let's be optimistic and count on a 7 percent monthly appreciation.
The $5,000 account 's final profit would be $350
Our $100,000-funded account would print the $7,000 profit, but in this case, it is necessary to deduct our portion of the profit.
You will earn a net profit of $4,900 after taking our 30 percent,
which corresponds to the salary of an experienced banking programmer or financial analyst.
If this was your first trading month, the fee you originally paid for the Challenge will also be refunded to you.
Working with the concept of opportunity cost, too, is important.
This term identifies the most profitable alternative activity you might be able to do, rather than trade.
Hence we compare the alternative employment income vs. the resulting monthly profit.
Let's say you could stay at work for two hours longer instead of evening trading, and take an extra $8/hour.
Your trading will cost you $320 a month (20 working days x $16), Only because you're doing it.
The resulting monthly trading income is only $30 higher ($350-$320)
for your $5,000 account, and you risk your entire deposit!
In the case of $100,000 of the FTMO account, the resulting net
profit is $4,580, and our company will cover any potential risk of loss.
These numbers are a little bit better, don't you think?
It should also be remembered that if you ended up at zero for
a month on a trading account, you'll earn $320 if you didn't trade.
At first glance, it's obvious that living on a long-term basis without risking too much and
putting trading on the side of gambling is not very realistic out of a small $5,000 account.
So we think our services are
of interest to all serious traders.
Have you got
what it takes?
Make sure you pass and become a Funded FTMO Trader by completing the Challenge.
If you have any questions please leave a comment below.

Cheers and Profitable Trading to All.

Read Carefully Experts!

This may appear to be a noob question, but read on carefully and please try and understand the point I'm trying to make! I'm hoping your answers might be helpful to people both learning Forex and looking to get into it, so please don't hate on me for this post.
I am relatively new to FX and have learned about break and retest strategies, MACD crossovers and stop losses below structure and risk to reward ratios (usually going for 1:1 or 2/3:1) and so on. I say this only so you know I've a general (very basic) understanding of charts, price action etc.
I definitely do NOT expect to step into the markets and instantly win a majority of my trades, however, to illustrate my thoughts please note the example below.
If I am winning 2% on a winning trade and losing 1% on a losing trade (2:1 reward risk per trade), a strategy that wins just 50% of the time trading once per trading day would be +10% each month. (10 days of -1%, 10 days of +2%). +10% is a HUGE increase in accounts and if a $1000 account was +10% per month for 12 months the end of year balance would be over $3138.43 or a 213.84% return!
This leads me to a theory that almost NO system can be returning 50% on a 2:1 reward risk, even with careful trade selection (let's say I monitor the 7 major pairs, gold and GBP/JPY as I do and pick one entry a day) Am I wrong? I appreciate it is a hypothetical example designed to make a point, but my thoughts are if you monitored lots of pairs and took only ONE entry a day, we might expect to win 50% of the time.
Let's expand this further. I have seen numerous algos (can't name them but looking like they win at LEAST 50% of the time) which tempt me because they appear to indicate moves I could jump on and where I could pull a bunch of pips out of the market. However, there surely cannot be a holy grail or are people making this type of insane return? It cannot be as easy as buying an algo, signing up to $300,000 worth of FTMO funding and earning 10% per month for an easy $21,000 per month income with profit share. Or maybe it is and I'm just cynical?! I end up getting tempted by courses etc. in the hope that if I spent £400 on a good course it would open the door to what I need to do, but I'm nervous this is just another huge mistake.
I genuinely would love to trade Forex for a living. Really I would. I hope it's possible and I hope to learn a strategy I can wash, rinse and repeat. I love watching videos and live streamers who seem to have a great understanding of what's going on but I wonder if it's really possible. It seems a million miles away but I'm determined to keep learning and trading.
Reading your considered thoughts to this post would be helpful for me and I'm sure others and thank you for reading it.

Hi, I'm new into Forex and I have some questions. (sorry for bad grammar but I'm not good in English)

Hi, I live in Portugal where making 800€ its an "decent" amount of money per mouth. I'm not rich, but I'm not poor either but I'm a bit limited about the deposit volume. I can't give 1000€ and to speak frenkly I'm looking for a good broker with a good laverage where I can spend about 10€ - 100€ max.
Like a said, I'm new, I'm a student and I hope someday I will make a living with forex. I know it's a lot of work, I don't know what strategies I'm looking for or what indicators are usefull or not, the only strategie I know so far is the how to identify a trend.
I'm curious about all the groups on Instagram about courses, but I like to think that I'm not that dumb and I don't want do fall in a scam choosing a wrong "guru".
I have some books to read about forex but again, I don't know if they are good or "modern".
So, my questions are: . Is there a good broker with a honest laverage for someone who can only spend 100€ max? . What are the main strategies to study first? . What's better, 1min trade? Day trades? Months trade? . Are robot are actually good and if yes, how to install? . Are copy trading actually legit??
Thanks for the time spend reading my problems and sorry again for the bad English.

I have an 89% win rate over 18 trades, with a 27% profit. How many trades should I do before going live?

So I've been doing some scalping on pairs with high spreads in cryptocurrencies previously with great success, but I finally figured I'd give forex a real shot (was into it a few years ago, but didn't go live). Last time I scalped in crypto, I had 14 out of 14 successful trades, but only about a 10% profit. I haven't heard about anyone scalping the way I do in crypto, but I find my method extremely reliable when I just find the right pair to trade. This is just to say I have some experience with trading, but I'm by no means an expert.
Now, I've been scalping the past few days with a paper trading account on TradingView. I've mostly been trading the US Currency Index, S&P 500 and some crypto pairs thus far. I'm scalping on the 1m time frame using bollinger bands and looking at trends, price action and stoch RSI for confirmation on my entries. I started out with 100k a few days ago and first doubled my account to around 200k and then did a 1,3 mill trade, but I was running like 500-1000 USD per pip, so if the market turned against me, I'd be liquidated real quick. While the trades were good, I figured I was disconnected from the risk I was taking because it isn't real money, and I wanted to try doing more conservative and realistic trades, so I reset the account yesterday.
Edit (more trades done): Since the account was reset, I've done 45 trades where I've lost on two of them. If my math serves me right, that's about an 95.5% win rate. I'm up around 77.5% currently. I did lose 1500 on one trade, but that's because I by mistake placed a sell order when I was supposed to add another buy order double down on my long position, so I'm not counting that one in (but I'm not counting the 1500 I lost as profit either). I have a very strict strategy I'm sticking to when doing these scalps. I realize 45 trades is not a huge sample size, but that is kinda why I'm asking:
How many trades should I do on the paper trading account before I should run it live with confidence?
For anyone who might be interested, here's my account history: https://imgur.com/a/zuRSWwd
Edit: here's 6 trades more: https://imgur.com/a/CmbyU6n
Edit2: some more trades: https://imgur.com/a/q9xqVyq
Edit3: I think we're up to 45 trades now: https://imgur.com/a/CsWZEN7

The comedy how I lost all my money in two hours

I'm trading for 11 months with pretty good success.
I never traded metals and forex before, just stocks. Today when gold started to consolidate at the last hour, I decided to scalp short it with a large amount, so I opened 100 lots. I haven't realised, in forex 100 (lots) doesn't mean "100 pcs", because I used to stocks and I went full retard without knowledge.
Seconds later, I realised it means 10 million dollars (1 lot = 100.000, and I had 500x leverage).
It moved up a bit and immediately I was down £4000. I scared as fuck and rather than closing the position quickly I hoped maybe I could close break even.
The market closed, and I waited for the Asian session. The gold popped like never before, and I lost all my life savings (£55000) in less than two hours. (including the 1-hour break between sessions).
If I count that I lost all my earnings as well, I lost around £85000.
Here is the margin call
https://imgur.com/a/XY5m4ZA
https://imgur.com/a/VSgmCSs
https://imgur.com/pRWl5g9
IC Markets closed my position partially in every 1-2 minutes until I shut it myself at £35.
You know the rest of the story. I'm depressed, crying and shouting with myself.
Yes, I know I was stupid, thanks. I just wanted to share this with you.

Edit: WOW THANK YOU, GUYS! I haven't expected this, but you help me.
Many of you asked the same questions, I answer it here:
- I live in Europe, and we usually trade CFD's, not futures.
- Currency in GBP.
- As you can see, this account made on IC Markets. They not just allowing you a 500x leverage, it's the default.
- You can ask me why I went against the market. Because gold is way oversold? Because I expected institutions would sell their shares before gold is hitting £2000, leaving retails hanging there. Also, as I said, I wanted to scalp, not riding the gold all the way down. If I had a loss of £100, I would close the position immediately. But when I saw the £4000, my heart is stopped, and my brain just freezes.
- I went for a revenge trade with my last £2k, and I don't have to say what happened. I uninstalled the app, and I give up trading for a while.
- Again, in the past months, I was cautious, I lost a significant sum in March, but I managed to recover. Made consistent gains, always with SL. This is just an example of how easy is to fuck up everything you did.
- I didn't come here for some shiny digital medals. I can't tell about my losses to anyone who I know in real life. I would make a fool of myself.
- Anyone who attacking me that it is a scam. Well, think what you want. I feel terrible and the last thing is to answer all the messages saying "You fucking karma whore". I don't give a shit about karma.

The importance of backtesting and sticking to a strategy

Hi all,
I just wanted to share my trading experience with you so far, and maybe help some people who may be in the situation as I am. I started trading about 2-3 months ago. I started with baby pips, opened a demo account, and got cocky a couple weeks into it and made a live account with $100, and every other week or so put $20 extra in. (thank God I didn’t put it more than that). Today, my account stands at around $68, with a total P/L of -$131.76. I have been really uncomfortable losing money, even if it’s not a lot, and that uncomfortableness forced me to realize my mistake.
I thought I could half ass a strategy and be a winner in forex, and the market humbled me extremely quickly. I actually didn’t have a strategy at all. It was a lazy mix of a bunch of different typical strategies I saw on YouTube. I also let my emotions get into trades, after a losing trade I would get back in the market in the opposite direction to try and make up for my loss. All bad, I know. I was too cocky.
Just like anything difficult in life, you cannot half ass forex. I spent all of Friday testing an EXTREMELY simple strategy on 4 major pairs, and out of 93 total trades over the last 6 months, the win rate of my strategy is 73%. From now on, I vow to ONLY make a trade when my strategy presents itself. Moral of the story is, if you think you can half ass forex, you better wake up right now. Find a strategy, backtest it, and only trade said strategy. Have some discipline.
Here is my extremely simple, backtested strategy with a 73% win rate that I got from The Trading Channel on YouTube:
Indicators: 200 EMA
Requirements: 2 wicks IN A ROW that TOUCH the 200 EMA, that have candle bodies that both close above or below the 200 EMA. If both candles close above the 200 EMA, go long. If both candles close below the 200 EMA go short. Stay extremely strict with the rules of the strategy.
Here are the pairs that I have tested this strategy on over the past 6 months, that total a 73% win rate:
-GBP/USD: 18/27 winning trades (67%)
-NZD/USD: 15/27 winning trades (71%)
-EUUSD: 15/20 winning trades (75%)
-EUGBP: 20/25 winning trades (80%)
All backtesting was done on the H1 chart. I tried on the daily and H4 charts but the frequency just wasn’t enough. In the video that I got this strategy from he was trying to highlight the importance of the frequency of your strategy. Even if it may have a really high winning percentage, if it only happens once a year it’s not a good strategy.
Also on a side note, I’ve seen a lot of conflicting opinions on whether or not the US election will effect USD pairs, do you guys think the election will mess with my strategy this upcoming week, or should I just trade my strategy and pay not attention to the results of the election?
Thanks for reading, and happy trading
Sincerely, u/emopatriot

Pro Traders, What Do You Say When Asked About Your Job?

While things are usually relatively simple together with your relatives and shut friends, speaking about your Forex trading job with people you’ve just met is for the foremost part rather hard.
The poll below is meant for people that are already earning their living (at least partially) through Forex, but the whole post are going to be interesting to anyone who is stepping into exchange trading or financial trading generally because it's strongly connected to one’s social life and to how traders are perceived by the overall public.
Forex trader explains what he does for a living
A Forex trader is misunderstood when he says what he does
The chances are if you're an experienced Forex trader, you've got already answered this question countless times. Unfortunately, for a few unfathomable reason, the trading profession gets some negative reputation from non-trading people. sort of a fellow trader has put it, there's tons of “judgment that comes from preconceived or stereotypical views”. Another one said that “people are generally prejudicial towards ‘day-trading‘”. and therefore the opinion that trading features a “pretty bad connotation” was also mentioned. People might even go as far as think you're some kind of fraudster.
But albeit the knowledge of your profession doesn’t sway people towards inferior opinion about you, they're going to likely start asking many questions: about current and future currency rates, which currency they ought to hold their money in, what proportion does one earn, how they ought to invest money, and so on. and a few people are often very intrusive about it.
In addition to attracting many questions from normal people, being open about your trading career tends to draw in wrong sort of persons too. All kinds of scammers, swindlers, and panhandlers will start seeing you as their appropriate target.
Worse than that, in some countries, Forex trading is prohibited. therein case, it'd be a matter of private safety to return up with a plausible yet untruthful answer when someone gets interested by how you earn your daily bread.
Visit : ICM Capital Dubai
At first glance the difficulty at hand might sound sort of a laughable matter that mostly concerns unsociable introverts, but actually , it's much deeper. The roots of the matter run
into the important social stigma attached to both financial trading generally and Forex especially .
I often say either that i'm online entrepreneur or that i'm a programmer because I hate explaining what Forex is which it isn’t a scam (Forex trading has this reputation where I live). If i'm certain about the one who asks that he or she know what Forex trading is, then I usually just say that i'm a trader.
What's your go-to answer about your job?
Forex trader (truth).
Fund manager (you are managing your funds!)
Analyst/Consultant (mostly true for all traders)
Programmer (if you automate your trading)
Business owner (trading may be a business after all)
Gambler (there may be a grain of truth in it!)
Self-employed (or something similarly vague)
Unemployed (lie)
Just some random profession (lie)

IML/IM ACADEMY/TRADEHOUSE/FOREX

I have been involved with an organization called Tradehouse that is affiliated with the popular MLM IML/IM MASTERY ACADEMY/whatever name they go by now... sadly for a few months now. If you have any friends or family that are involved with either of these entities - please get them out if you can. They have probably already been roped in and indoctrinated with the language that the community uses (which often includes every clap back and argument in the book) but please try anyways.
They get you in by leveraging the higher ups in their organization ("chairman") and showing them live their lavish lifestyles.. and imply that you can too. As soon as you're welcomed in you're lovebombed and called "family" by everyone in this massive telegram group chat. And then it's radio silence right after. You're assumed to learn everything that you can about trading on your own. And soon you realize it's impossible because retail trading involves SO much risk.. which is exactly why many DON'T... lmao. You're literally trading against big banks and hedge funds. And if you don't know anything about trading let me tell you something that you might not know yet - for every winner or winning trade there is a loser. Banks can afford to trade because they are going in trades from both positions and skimming off the top of the profits. Retail traders? Yeah we aren't so lucky lol. So you realize that trading isn't as easy as it seems.. but your monthly payment is coming up and you have to do something. Here is where they get you - once you sign up (RECRUIT) two people you get your monthly fee waived (mind you.. JUST FOR THAT MONTH). The pressure is then on you to flex a lifestyle you don't have yet, in order to sell people a dream you aren't even living. All to avoid a monthly charge that they are going to have to handle unless they start the same cycle.. It's honestly horrible.
The whole thing is just slimly. Everyone that is brought in is indoctrinated and taught to say the exact same things, just mindless robots. "Its all about the mindset if you're losing it's on you" "Forex isn't a scam" "broke mindset" just the dumbest stuff..
I’m making this post to anyone on here that was like me, just looking for all the information that they could about what they think or thought seemed like a good idea, but suddenly doesnt.. your conscience knows. It’s okay to get roped into these things, they are marketers after all. You aren’t stupid for joining or inquiring, and if you’re in it already like me you can make it out. You’ve already done the first step and that’s look outside of the bubble.. time to pop it.
Anyone that has any questions about the above groups, advice or stuff you’d like to hear about my experience please drop it in the comments. I’m not sure how reddit works still lol but I’m always free to help.

10 Secrets The Trading Industry Doesn’t Want You To Know About

Today’s lesson goes to be somewhat controversial and should ruffle some feathers. I shall blow wide open and debunk tons of the knowledge you've got presumably been exposed to the present far in your trading journey.
The average trader is out there walking through a confusing and conflicting maze of data from a spread of sources including; blogs, forums, broker websites, books, e-books, courses and YouTube videos.
With of these learning resources available there's naturally getting to be some excellent and a few very bad information, but actually , there just isn’t how for many aspiring traders to understand what to concentrate to, who to concentrate to, or what information is useful and what information is non-beneficial.
I’m not getting to pretend that there's how for an aspiring trader to filter this giant sea of data composed by of these resources and mentors out there, because there simply isn’t. knowledgeable trader with 10,000 hours of experience might stand an opportunity of deciding the great from the bad and therefore the valid from the invalid. However, you, the beginner or intermediate trader simply won’t possess that filtering ability yet.
Becoming ‘Non-Average’
As traders, we concede to our instinctive feelings of social trustworthiness supported what we see and listen to , often to our extreme detriment. we frequently tend to require a leap of religion with our mentors and have a habit of taking things said to us at face value. we would like to hold close information that resonates with us and is sensible to us, especially if it’s delivered by a well-known source that we've come to understand and trust.
The ‘average trader’s brain’ is usually trying to find a shortcut due to the overwhelming desire to form money and be free. The brain wants to urge a winning result immediately with the smallest amount amount of effort possible. If you would like to ever make it as a professional trader or investor, I suggest you are doing everything you'll to avoid thinking with the ‘average trader’s brain‘ and begin being ‘non-average’. meaning becoming far more aware, thinking outside the box more and questioning and filtering the knowledge you read and watch. most significantly , slowing everything all down!
This now begs the apparent question…how does one even know what I’m close to write during this lesson is actually valid and factual? How are you able to really be sure? the reality is unless you've got followed me and my posts on this blog for an extended time and know me and know my work, then you can’t really make certain , and that i don’t expect you to easily believe it at face value. If you would like to return back and re-read this lesson during a few weeks, or a couple of months, or a couple of years, after you work out that i'm somebody worth taking note of about trading OR that i'm somebody not worth taking note of about trading, then so be it.
So with a degree of healthy skepticism, I ask you to think about the below list of eye-opening secrets that professional traders and therefore the trading industry, don’t want you to understand about or understand. I hope it helps…

FOREX isn’t the sole market the Professionals trade
The FX market is large , with billions of dollars per day changing hands. It can cause you to great money if you recognize what you’re doing OR it can send you broke if you don’t. It’s a really popular market to trade globally, BUT it’s not the sole market the professional’s trade and it’s not always the simplest market to trade either.
A note on leverage:
The brokers and platform providers want you to trade FX on high leverage because the profit margins are very high for them. However, if you trade FX on lower leverage, the profit margins shrink dramatically for them. once you trade FX, start brooding about what can fail rather than just brooding about what can go right. I suggest avoiding stupidly high leverage like 400 to 1, as this will be very dangerous for you if the market moves quickly or experiences a price gap and your stop-loss orders aren’t executed at the worth you set. A more sensible leverage level would be 100 to 1 or 200 to 1, but any higher seems crazy. (Using an excessive amount of leverage is what wiped tons of traders out during Swiss Bank Crisis in 2015, The Brexit choose 2016 and therefore the Currency flash crash in early 2019).
Broaden your view:
Going forward, it'll serve you well in your trading career to start out watching a spread of worldwide markets including FX, Stock Indicies and Commodities. additionally to FX, I personally trade GOLD (XAUUSD), S&P500 Index USA, the SPI200 Index Australia, and therefore the Hang Seng Index Hong Kong , and sometimes individual stocks on various global exchanges. In short, there's more to the trading world than simply FX. I discuss the foremost popular markets I trade this lesson here.
Day trading isn’t what Pro trading really is
The internet is crammed with marketing trying to convince folks that the definition of a trader may be a one that spends all day actively trading in and out of the market on a brief term basis, all whilst living the life-style of a Wall St millionaire. there's a significant agenda within the industry to push this story to the masses, it's been relentless for many years .
I am yet to satisfy one successful day trader who is consistent over the future and that i have almost 25,000 students and 250,000 readers on this blog. i'm not saying there isn’t a couple of out there, but 99.9% of the people that do this sort of trading or attempt to live up to the standard day trader stereotype are getting to fail and perhaps even harm themselves financially or mentally. Watching a screen all day and searching for trades constantly is that the like a compulsive gambler playing roulette during a casino.
The successful traders i do know of (myself included) are watching higher time frames and longer time horizons (minimum 4-hour chart timeframes and predominantly daily chart time frames). they need no restriction on how long they're looking to carry a trade for and that they tend to let the trades find them. The professionals i do know , don't day trade, they are doing not watch screens all day, they are doing not search for trades constantly. they're going to typically fall under the category of a swing trader, trend trader or position trader.
The obvious paradox and conflicting reality within the ‘day trader story’ is blatantly obvious. How does a trader who is consistently watching a screen and constantly trading have time to enjoy his life and live the lifestyle? They chose to trade as a profession to possess a life, they didn’t choose it to observe a screen 24/5.
Here are some points to think about that employment against the so-called ‘ day trader’:
The shorter the time-frame the more noise and random price movement there's , thus increasing your chance of simply being stopped out of the trade.
Your ‘trading edge’ features a higher chance of yielding a result for you if you’re not trading within the intraday noise.
The same trading edge doesn't work or produce an equivalent results on a 5 min chart compared to a Daily chart.
Commissions and spreads churn your account, therefore the more you trade the more you lose in broker platform costs. (I will mention this below)
Risk-Reward ratios aren't relative on shorter and longer time frames. Statistical average volatility across different time periods also as natural market dynamics play an enormous role during this . there's much more weight behind higher time frames than lower timeframes.
Great trades take time because the market moves slower than most of the people ever anticipate. Trading from the upper timeframes and holding trades for extended time periods will provide you with greater opportunities to ascertain trades mature into big winners. However, shorter timeframes don’t provide you with this same opportunity fairly often .
